Look online for "Bruce Fraser", the author of Real World Photoshop. I think
he has some PDF files that can be downloaded regarding a lot of tricks for
doing things in 16 bit mode. I attended a workshop where he presented and it
has changed my workflow completely. I use an Imacon 848 to scan my TMax
negatives and they stay in 16 bit mode now all the way through printing (Photoshop
converst 16 bit to 8 bit when sent to the printer)
