I remembered what the other thing was:
(4) negatives: my negatives are also on the thin side, in fact the
negatives that print the best are very thin indeed (this is true of both
digital and contone negatives) So I don't think that's it either.
But like I said, first let's determine whether there's actually
something to explain, before we start looking for explanations.
