I also plan to do this :)
My idea was to put the negs into archival plastic sleeves, whichever size is
appropriate, and then make acid-free boxes from archival foamcore. Each neg
size would be in appropriate sized box for easy access. (You could make
tagged "dividers" from mountboard so negs could be stored upright.) Plus,
you can write on the tags and the outside of the box easily. I think a small
box or division for each year would be the best approach - altho as my
"seniority" increases this may become a problem of course!
Once the boxes are constructed sloth can set in until a new set of boxes is
needed.

 Btw, in N.Z. we don't seem to have 4x5 neg sleeves available - is this an
option in the U.S.?
