Actually I'm using about 24 by 28 glass -- or something like that... about
the same as the nu arc was, whatever that was... And when the contact
matters I put 3 gallon jugs on top, but I think maybe that's
psychological, not sure I really need them...

Dan, I'm getting the thought that maybe paper is stronger in Texas, and
weak and effete here in New York... Or perhaps it's just that the paper I
use isn't the curly type. I use the weight to get contact, not to uncurl
the paper. However, the fact that I generally tray size, in other words
the gelatin is equal on both sides of the paper, does cut down, maybe way
down, on curl. What kind of paper is so curly?
Of course I suspect contact is more of an issue with platinum on hard
papers than gum or other on soft papers -- but I do tests with cyano on
hard papers, & they look pretty sharp, or sharp enough -- those Stouffer
numbers come through nice & clear.
There's also the possibility that thin paper when you print close to the
edges will ripple more -- I had a terrible time with some thin paper that
was waxed for a paper neg... I could NOT get it to lie flat... ripples
went in several inches deep. Maybe thin paper does that more than
heavier??? There's also the fact that all my paper has been preshrunk,
which may mean less curl/ripple.
