Hi,
I'm rather new to this list and I haven't followed the entire
conversational history of digital negatives here... so pardon me if I
rehash old news:
Nick said something a few mails back about not being able to produce
negatives from his color Epson printer.
Assuming these negatives are for contact printing PT, cyanotypes, gums
etc., color works quite well.
I've been making negs for my cyanotypes and gum prints for several months
from an Epson 780 with stock inks.
The process is simply creating a spectral neg. ie. print it in duotone
color and factor in the colors resistance to light. Orange is a good color.
Also if more density is required you can stack your negs. I've never
needed to do this but I know it has been done.
That's it for me. I don't want to talk much about this in case it's been
beaten to death before or there is some deeper reason for using black inks
that I don't understand.
Cheers,
Ian Greant
PS For more info There are a couple articles at bostick-sullivan.com
also Dan Burkholder sells a really good book dedicated to making digital
negatives danburkholder.com
