After reading your post, I went against manufacturers warnings (there goes
my warrenty on a $3 hairdryer) and removed the heating elements before
printing this morning. I had always been told that quick drying (by heat?)
was OK and that there was a considerable loss of contrast and Dmax if one
waited several hours before printing the sensitized paper. I also wanted the
paper bone dry before putting it against a negative.

I was adding it because I thought it would help with spreading and
absorption to increase Dmax. Sandy mentioned in a past post that Stevens
tried it to improve apparent sharpness by keeping the sensitizer on the
surface but that it caused problems with achieving a smooth coating. My
first attempts worked beautifully - beginngers luck huh? If it is part of
the problem maybe i'll stick to additional sizing only.
Thanks,
Scott
