Hi Gord, Vince, Don & all...

I would have gotten back sooner on this except I've been consumed with a
REAL LIFE disaster (namely dread "developers" on the waterfront & the call
to arms-- a ten-year buildup & now the crunch) -- but a day after reading
Vince's reply I called Panix, which said they DO have a "couple of spam
filters" but they wait for you to ask.

The service rep I spoke with recommended "Spam Assassin", and said they
can also put the rejected mail in a separate file for you to double check
(in case any of your friends send you e-mails with subject lines like --
oh well, not so clever as dirty limericks but same old same old --
remember, "it wasn't the size that opened her eyes...."? Or is that a
relic from long long ago & no longer in circulation?).

Anyway, he said that setting this up is very easy for Pine and Unix
shell... So I shall try that tho I may not get to it til after Wednesday.

I asked if it really had gotten worse after Panix changed phone companies,
as it seemed to -- he said no, it's just gotten worse lately period.
Another new wrinkle he said is stealing your identity and sending spam in
your name... His has been used numerous times -- and bounced back to him
in the zillions, I gather.

I can understand worry about space in subject line, though possibly
something like "ALT" would work. In any event, thanks to all for
suggestions & sympathy. The score of Spam tonight was in the 70s, tho that
may have been 2 days; I've lost track...

to be continued,

Judy
