For a more local prog. (i.e. not requiring a mail server) I'm using
Mozilla Mail (included with the Mozilla browser). It has a junk mail
filter that you have to "train" over a few days/weeks. Essentially, you
click a little junkmail icon on each email that's junk (uncheck it if
it's NOT junk), and the mail program learns what your spam preferences are.
I have it routing all junk to my trash can, so for the first few days I
had to move the occasional mail out myself (including a couple mails
from this list!); but today for the first time it sorted everything
perfectly! And I only just turned it on this past Tuesday. :-)
Mozilla's free--http://www.mozilla.org and
http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/spam.html
Good luck!
