  I understand your point and agree. However, we are talking about
processes and information that are 150 years old. As I said, if one of
us developed an entirely new process, it can and should be protected.

  Further, the use of information gathered from this list and other
sources when used as research and not just regurgitated is not a
copyright violation nor plagiarism. How could one discovery be used to
discover other things if this were true. Even Talbot had to use
information from Herschel to make his images more permanent. Was that
copyright violation? Was it plagiarism? I don't think so.

  If some members of this list feel that they are being infringed upon,
perhaps they should consider legal action or write their own books.
But in doing so, don't use any outside material without reference to
the original author or creator of that material. Additionally, you
cannot copyright information that has been in the public domain for 100
or more years.
