Hey Mark-Eighth graders like making pinhole cameras with traditional
paper negatives and converting them on the computer. Sixth grade might
like it as well. Van Dyke can be used with the negatives by preparing
the paper the night before. I've had it sealed for a month in light
proof plastic and the paper was usable for students. The chemistry
itself is not allowed in many school districts so be sure to check
about precautions like wearing plastic gloves to handle the VDB. In
our area even common photographic chemicals are not allowed in the
middle school. Have fun.
