They are probably using either a fine partical board or a MDF
board.. What I would do is to buy 3/4 thick Kitchen Cabinet stock that
is already laminated on just one side.. ( make sure it is very flat ) I
would then double it , making it 1 1/2 inches thick and glue and screw (
from the under side ) the two pieces together. You must make sure that
the laminate is on both the top and the bottom of the board other wise the
board will warp, or if you just paint it, then paint all sides. You would
then reinforce the area where the enlarger is to be mounted as partical
board is not that strong ( but it is usually very flat) with large
fender washers .. jc
