Re: fine line developer

Dear fine liners,

This is a little 5-1/2 by 7 inch booklet, 4 sheets stapled in the center
for a total of 16 "pages," only 14 of which have text on them. It was
clearly artist made, since the "type" is -- remember ? -- Courier from a
typewriter.

There is no copyright notice or mark at all, but the verso of the last
page says "from the press of the visual studies workshop rochester, new
york." (Which was, I cannot forbear adding, the site of one of the first
photography workshops I took -- a "criticism" or near-criticism course
with Nathan Lyons, which told me things I still remember today -- and also
the first and for a long time only manifestation of "new" or "crooked"
photography in the East.)

My guess is that both Tim and VSW would be delighted to have this work
shared on the internet -- as long as nobody tries to sell it or take its
benefits personally and credit is given the source.

Of course there's no guarantee it will solve whoever it was's problem
since it does seem to assume Kodalith developer.

However, I find it, including and especially its "facture," an affecting
period piece, and since the topic seems to have interest, I feel it's
right to share it -- for historic interest if nothing else. Therefore I'm
going to copy it tonight & put it in the mail to Ryuji for three reasons
-- his was the first reply I received; he is the closest, in Boston, so
would quite possibly/probably have it the soonest, before world attention
turns elsewhere; and he promises to put it on a website.
