Might I suggest that you place the prints face "down" (on top of the
sponge) on one or two layers of mounting board... place a couple more
pieces of mounting board, topped with some release paper, before closing
the press. You may be "creating" the mark by not having enough material
between the platten and the print.

Re-soaking and slow re-drying may well rid the prints of the impression of
the "sharp" edge of the platten.

My preferred drying technique, is making sure I have an adequate supply of
blotters. Dry blotters replace the first set after about 10 to 15
minutes... again after a further half hour and again an hour later. When in
a "hurry" I have resorted to 6 changes to "doubled-up" dry blotters....
with the last change I will have a piece of plywood with a couple of books
as a "weight". I can have prints dry enough in about two hours.
