No doubt. The parallel I saw was with respect to adhesion to a support.

I gathered the silane thing was not pH dependent.

I have no idea about the swell factor (how would I measure that?). With
regards to
hardening, my main criterion is whether the emulsion does withstand the
processing solutions, from pH 2.0 (bleach) to 11.5 (developer).
