an ON TOPIC message (sort of)

I much appreciate the references of texts, and plan to get them -- for the
next project. There is the problem, I find, that by the time you stuff all
those wonderful methods into your brain (your aged brain) it's driven all
the earlier stuff out, or compressed it into meaningless fragments... But
the immediate problem is that the project is late already.

HOWEVER -- I was so taken with Susan's description of the background
eraser, I summoned it next day. What I found was that it doesn't work
for my city skies: There's always stuff in the sky, thin or intricate
stuff, like power lines, or flag poles, or traffic lights, or guy wires or
scaffolding of
one kind or another. With the magic wand I can just click on both sides
and leave the line isolated. With the background eraser, the task of
isolating a thin power line would be impossible, or at best more trouble
than it's worth.

However, I sure wish I'd known about it during the years when I tried to
silhouette a drawing for P-F and never could get rid of the white
background. I'd do a makeshift workaround in Pagemaker, but it was a klug
and never really right. I've had some other thoughts of silhouetted
figures & it looks like this will do it. What an invention !
