Jon,

Do you use a microdot screen when you expose the plates or do you create a
halftone screen in Photoshop as part of the transparency that you create?

I've been very happy with the Epson 2200 for printing transparencies
using Pictorico OHP film for Poly Plates. That in conjunction with the
4870 Pro scanner and I've been a happy camper (both for under $1200
about a year ago).
