I have a copy of the book "Steichen: The Master Prints 1895 - 1914" published by the Museum of Modern Art which I believe previously owned this print. The book says that the print is a platinum and ferroprussiate print and that it was gifted to MOMA by Steichen.

Does anyone know whether the Steichen print sold for $2.6 million at
Sotheby's was a gum, a gum over pt, or? The news said nothing.

If a gum, the next question is: would it have been sold for as much if
    it were a gelatin/silver print?
