Gum & dmax

I'm gearing up to do my first gum prints and, as I read through the
descriptions and recommendations for the process, I notice how often
multiple coatings are used. I'm interested in experimentsing, but I'm also a
lazy sob, so is there any way to get really deep blacks (I'm not interested
in other pigments at this point.) with a single coat?
