Mixing argyrotypes

We are talking here of hand coated print out processes , not develop out
emulsion processes such as silver gelatine.

To rephrase my question, why, when  people are using original processes ,such
as salt and Van Dyke, to preserve their qualities of range of tone and beauty
of gradation, make it a lot more cpmplicated..

What advantages does the argyrotype offer over salt and Van Dyke?
