I just took delivery of some of the new Arches Platine paper. This
paper has been specially formulated for platinum/palladium/hand coated
processes. It has been two years in the making - a collaboration between
Arches and Martin Axon, who by the way, was the platinum printer for
Robert Mappelthorpe.

The paper seems very nice. It seems to be about 140 lb., possibly a bit
more. It is white (as opposed to off white, ecru, etc.). It has a very
nice surface, and it stands up to the chemistry quite well.

I've just begun doing tests, so I haven't any more to report just yet.
However, if *you* would like to get some Arches Platine for yourself, you
can call Martin directly at:

Martin Axon
(203) 245-7674

Martin is selling the paper for $6.50 per sheet. Each sheet is 33"x40"
with deckeled edges.

If you call Martin, I would appreciate it if you told him that David
Fokos sent you. By the way, I have no financial interest in this project.
I just want to see this paper succeed so that it stays around for a
while.
