I built the Bender 4x5 camera last year. The directions are clear and
the work is not too hard. Overall, it was an interesting and fun project.
However, by the time I had purchased a lens, a Polaroid Back, a roll-film
back, some cut-film backs, a tripod, and a backpack to carry all this,
the monetary savings over a purchased camera was not terribly significant.
Another thing that frequently gets lost in the shuffle of all of this is
wieght. I'm not sure that the 3 pound difference between the Bender and
most 4x5 field cameras is very significant.
