Materials for carbon..

Hi all..

Quite awhile ago I posted a question regarding possible sources for carbon
"tissue" and was dismayed to see that nobody replied. I take it that that
means there is NO supplier for carbon other than the few odd colors Gallery
614 still has. If this is the case, thats too bad... but nonetheless, I
am still interested in the process and would like to experiment with making
my own "tissue" at some point.

Over the last few months I've acquired quite a few books dealing with the
carbon process, but only one of them gave any detailed information regarding
the creation of the carbon tissue (thanks Luis..) The rest assume that the
pigment paper will be bought commercially. Is anybody willing to share some
info about how THEY make their pigment paper? My questions are basic:

1) What method of coating do you use?
2) What brands and colors of pigment have you successfully used?
3) What papers have been successfully used?
4) What are the proportions of the emulsion (gelatin, pigment, sensitizer)?
5) How much emulsion do you use for each tissue (or emulsion per square inch)

I realize that the carbon process is quite finicky regarding temperature and
humidity (not to mention many other variables), so I don't expect this info
to be of any instantaneous value. But I'd rather work with materials which
CAN produce carbon prints than shoot in the dark. This is certainly a
large query, but any help would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam
