Not necessarily so, Katharine. Several political movements in Latin America were/are called so. FLN (Frente de Liberación Nacional) in Colombia, FMLN (Frente Farabundo Martí de Liberación Nacional) in El Salvador, Frente de Liberación Nacional (Tupamaros) in Uruguay, and so on. Also, the official name of the Viet Cong in Vietnam was (in French) Front National de Liberté. And there was a Front de Libčration Nationale in Argelia.

A rather common name, actually.
