I used a vernier caliper, but a good machinist's micrometer would be better. I
don't think I would call this a terribly precise measurement. All I did was
measure the thickness of the tissue paper, wash off the gelatin, let it dry for
a few days, and then measure the thickness of the remaining paper. The
difference between the two measurements should be the thickness of the gelatin
more or less. This of course isn't taking into account the compressibility of
the paper, etc..
