As if I didn't know! Unfortunately I won't be able to make it myself. I
have some business commitments in Paris a couple of months later and I
simply can't justify two trips overseas this close apart. I also have to
rationalize my travel time so I would only go to Bath and nearby Lacock
Abbey and London, for a minimum of two or three weeks. Otherwise it's not
worth going.

Perhaps next year -1998. I would also suggest that a different time should
be picked, i.e., *after* the regular University year. I think part of the
reason last year's Paris meeting was so successful nadeaul@mailserv.nbnet.nb.ca (I counted people from
at least 8 countries) is that it was held later in the year.

Speaking of Paris, I'll be offering a History of Photography Guided Tour of
photographic collections, in *English*, as I previously mentioned on the
PhotoHst list. This could also be of interest to Alt-photo workers who want
to study early examples of daguerreotypes, salt prints, carbon,
woodburytype, etc. So far, those who have shown interest are mostly
curators from organizations like the Smithsonian Institution, Harvard
University, Cornell U., and other American universities with Overseas
Summer Study programs. Those who wish more information should contact me
OFFLIST.
