tiny white spots in prints?

Hello,
since recently, I have a new problem which has not occured before:
in some of my prints, and this means Ziatypes as well as Chrysotypes, and,
if I remember correctly, with and without Tween, I get tiny white spots
quite evenly distributed in the shadow areas. They are enough to reduce
dmax somewhat. They look as if tiny air bubbles would have prevented
exposure, or give a "spongy" impression (this is only to describe my
problem).
I got them on RBK Rives (Ziatypes) as well as on Whatman Watercolour
(Chrysotype).
I really have no clue about the origin of this problem; does anybody have
suggestions?
Lukas
