Which article are you referring too, the info on Doug Bardell's page or the
article in View Camera Magazine?

I've made both View Cameras and bellows for those cameras from scratch.
It isn't such a daunting task. Besides, the way anyone chooses to spend
their time is a pretty personal thing. I've been told that
building/repairing cameras is a waste of time too. Now I'd probably agree
if you wanted to discuss whether or not it is cost effective to build your
own versus buying them. I think it takes me about eight hours to build a
bellows.
