David;

You bring up some very pertinent questions regarding handmade prints and the
repeatability of editions. Just to throw a wrench into this, I real feel
that one of the most beautiful things about handmade prints, especially
those from historical processes, is that they are all unique individuals.
You are not some kind of coating machine and I don't think that you should
try to produce 50 exact, or even near close prints. The edition could be
very similar, utilizing the same lot of paper, but each individual print
should have its own personality. This would lead well to not printing them
all at the same time. Even if you did print all 50 on the same day, as your
UV sources heats and other variables fluctuate, things will change. I think
that we as practitioners of these historical, handmade processes, should
educate our market to the uniqueness of handmade, crafted items as opposed
to factory prints (Thanks to Judy for the term).
