Perhaps there is a sizing problem on the paper itself.
Something that I do is to place my paper on a heated warming tray as I
coat it with the emulsion. It that way, everything stays warm and the
coating is accomplished with ease. The emulsion doesn't start to
clump-up as it is spread.
