The Leggat reference is a useful history, but is unfortunately text only.
There are many sites on the web that are useful resources, but you are
better off either going to one of the gateway sites like mine or doing
your own specific searches through www.google.com or similar search
engine.
One fascinating site some may not know is the University of Oxford Museum
of Science and Technology, which has Sir John Herschel's photogenic
drawing of telescope at Slough, Autumn 1839 and a direct positive
photogenic drawing by Robert Hunt also from 1839, as well as a Fox Talbot.
it isn't a large exhibition, but there are some other things of interest.
The museum is at http://www.mhc.ac.uk though I can't remember the exact
URL of the exhibits. There was I think a cyanotype also.
