Re: Selenium

Hai Sandy,

There are a few formulas around for making your own selenium toner,
without the hypo (T55). But as Richard Knoppow very rightly pointed out:
this involves handling (actually boiling!) the very toxic selenium
powder, and should not be undertaken without the necessary precautions,
preferable in a good lab environment. That said the toner works very
good, no need to hypoclear, the only problem is that it is not as stable
in dilution as the Kodak stuff.

A ps somehow people know around here that I "collect" (photographic)
chemicals, so I was given a very old jar of selenium..500 grams, full,
wasn't too happy with that, but at least I have access to good storage
and waste dispossal..

Best,

Cor
