Just a little unbecoming in my opinion - tasty and all.  Perhaps there is
another perspective - digital negs can be made to provide different results,
ie, clear borders and most of the Alt processes clear completely if your neg
has a black border.  So using a rod, which I do, always allows for a clear
1/2" before you encounter the 'not perfectly geometric' puddle.  This allows
me to cut the piece before mounting and if I want it to float I can cut it
anywhere I like.
