Re: Platinum/Palladium question

Simply reheating the developer is not the answer. Several things happen
when you use the developer. Some water will evaporate and some will get
carried away with the print. Some of the chemical will get used/ converted/
contaminated with coating solution components that have "done their thing".
If the crystals are clear, adding water will help restore the solution so
that it will be able to accept the additional chemistry back into solution.

The fogging that Jeffrey refers can be prevented by exposing the developer
to UV light and allowing it to settle and then filtered. Unless
contaminated with an obviously spilled solution or other such accident, your
pot ox developer will be fine for a while.

Some rather large greenish crystal may form, these will not go back into
solution nor do you want them to. Filter them and "top" off your developer
with freshly made developer.

You can help elimanate your crystal formation in part by covering your
developer tray or by using a one tray method.
