I don't do full sets of gray card zone tests, but your intermediate numbers
look ok, as do the top ones, assuming that the whole scale has been shifted
up by the excessive base fog. But with that much bad density at the bottom
you really can't tell anything else.

By all means mix a very small batch for further testing: just cut all the
ingedients to make a small batch. The limit is probably how accurate your
scale is for the smallest quantities. Use the trick of dissolving a "pinch"
of the sulfite before you add the metol--this helps the metol dissove more
easily. These formulas do take a lot of stirring, and if you accidentally
went on to adding a chemical before the previous one was completely
dissolved, that could have caused problems. Wait till there's an interesting
radio show coming on, and resign yourself to spending a solid half hour
mixing a batch. ---Carl
