Oh I hate to be a spoilsport but somebody's got to do it -- have you done
a perimeter test? That is, I found light falloff very steep from a
one-bulb sunlamp. Tho that was a thrift store model. Maybe chain stores
are better? Also it's probably 500 watts, expensive, slow warm up, short
life -- & makes HEAT in the summer.

I use BL (note that's NOT BLB) fluorescents... they cost from $10 to $14
apiece in the 24 inch length, take 20 watts of electricity each, and make
no heat (heat if any is from the ballasts, but still not in it with
sunlamp heat). They're rated for 7 to 9000 hours.

They're very easy to get in NYC, but I don't know about the outer planets.
Let me suggest internet, or, Post-Factory lists Bulb Direct, 800/772-5267
and Top Bulb Co, 800/867-2852 (quoted BL at $10.58 about a year & a half
ago). Or maybe Champion Lighting, 800/673-7822. All have websites, but
I'm too bleary at this moment to copy the URLs. maybe someone else has
some other sources. Does Home Depot (not present in the big apple) have
BL? Or???

I do test strips just like you do (I think). Tape the 21-step to the piece
of paper & put neg down on the plate glass. Plate glass the second goes
on top, and weights over that. As noted, this is the one instance in which
contact can be soft, because the strips will wiggle -- but then, I tend to
use tiny scraps of paper for tests. If you use a more generous size, won't
wiggle. I generally do 5 or 6 or more at a time. Tho maybe there's a
question there I'm not following (I SAID I'm bleary !); if so ask
again....
