Last summer, with my class @ Anderson Ranch in CO, we tested the latest
Nikon, Sony, Epson and Fuji cameras and my three year old Olympus D600L.
The cameras were in the 3 megapixel range. Mine is slightly more than one.
We placed each camera on a tripod and took an unadjusted image of the
NYTimes on a bright red fire gate.
The images were all fed into a Mac G4 w/the proprietary software through a
smart card USB reader.
All images were enlarged to approximately 10x13 and printed w/out color
changes on an Epson (I think 1200) printer: their latest.
The class judged the images.
My tiny camera tied w/the Nikon and the Epson.
Most likely you can purchase it used on eBay for $350
