Jeffrey,
Any Pt/Pd print has a fragile surface compared to, say, a silver gelatin
print. What I'm interested in isn't burnishing or scratching: if you have a
test/scrap print around, try rubbing lightly in a highlight area and then
inspecting under magnification. See if you find tiny areas of exposed white
with a really tiny roll or squiggle of dark material nearby. If not, rub
harder and see if you can force it to happen. I find that light pressure
doesn't effect most prints, really forceful rubbing will do it to almost any
print, but just a few are susceptible to this with really slight abrasion.
I'd agree that all Pt/Pd prints should be handled as fragile materials. Also
I recall your demonstration of the ruggedness of Pt/Pd on fabric.
