I had that discussion with friend this afternoon -- she's independent
curator now putting catalogs & images from past shows on website. She says
that making the images small, say 1-1/2 by 2 inches, at 72 dpi there's not
much anyone can do with them. You see them well enough for the purpose --
not to mention save time in the download.
She also said that lately some of the fancier web sites have images she
could not find a way to download, altho admittedly she's not (yet) a
maven. And of course being a mac person, she can't "right click."
However I would suppose it's only a matter of time before capacity to
prevent download is available in a $20 software package.
Taking photograph of the monitor is another tack -- but, again, what are
you going to do with it? If you want to pirate, lordy, all those
gorgeous books in print -- tho you'd have to go to the public library.
