I have received a response from my Inkjet Mall request for info - actually
from Jon Cone himself. I sent him a synopsis of my earlier post to the list
with the remaining questions. When I have sorted this out I will post the
results. In addition, I forwarded the two comments below to him -
anonomously.

Jon, FWIW here are a couple of posts from people on the list.

The inkjetmall site is in lack of much supportive documentation, but
what is really needed is a sample. This is what I referred to as a
"test drive". I do not understand how difficult it could be for Cone to
print some of his own samples that showcase the ability of his
products. The cost of doing so would be very low and paid back quickly
by even a few sales it would generate. (And what about the repeat
business to buy ink and such?) I would certainly want a sample negative
demonstrating the range, density, tonal quality and other aspects
claimed. A sample size of 4x5 inches should do if it has the
appropriate range of a typical 21-step with both steps and continuous
regions.

I also recall the downloadable file of test images on the inkjetmall
site. I have downloaded this file and print the image on my printer.
But I do not have a print from Cone's products for comparison. And
again for my case I would like a print on transparency material.

I, too, am frustrated in my attempts to receive any substantive assistance
from Cone. Let's face it, this product is not cheap, and Cone is behaving
as if supplying samples, documentation, and anything except PRICES is
somehow a major inconvenience. The marketing approach seems to be one of
simply letting satisfied customers spread the word.

Hopefully, Jon Cone will be fabulously successful is selling his product to
the well-heeled and the institutionally sponsered. Successful enough to
inspire some competition who might be more inclined towards service and fair
pricing.
