To all
I have been sitting on my hands to keep from getting into this topic.
Any school especially and 'A'rt school that does not teach a foundation
first year has some problems (I think). Theory and Craft are the
building blocks for art, and YES some art has come from out side this.
But to teach, and have a frame work to work with in you need theory and
craft.
I for one, should be the least person to talk. I have been lucky in
teaching most of my classroom jobs have been by invitation, so at time I
did not need to flash the big letters like BFA or MFA all I have is HSG
and a lot of work with people I wanted to work with and learn from. 16
to 17 years in the college/art school class room is not bad.
As a part timer (or new title AAP) it has been a good ride. The work
has given me the time to teach, develop new classes and programs and
(drum role) work on my own projects.
