Chris, I haven't read the rest of the mail queue yet (about 80 more
messages !!!) but this makes me so mad I have to respond right now. What
you're saying is that they want you to have the "cohesive" imagery to
start with, and THEN charge you $20,000 for.... What? For having it? Or
to change it?
That is not only vile, but it explains a lot of what's wrong with "art
photography" these days. You have to think like the in-group to get
in with the in-group... And if you're not willing to imitate them or
their thinking in advance (I guess you're supposed to find it in
Aperture), fuggedaboudit.
I can't say chuck it, because IME grad school really is valuable -- but
maybe try a messier one, where there's room for mistakes, trial & error,
independence, even failure. Fear of failure keeps "artists" in the known &
done lane.
OK, enough... but that's pathetic.
