This particular project is being done in black anyway... and my
inclination is better to put the energy elsewhere than MORE software and
hardware....the hair of the dog that bit me. But,

As noted, that screen-like pattern was ONLY when printing the step tablet,
I don't see it in random shapes in images... I figured it was some kind of
ricochet set up by the even planes, and had a brief fantasy of inventing a
step tablet of irregular shapes... But I decided that was overkill, just
ignore it -- tho it was curious. I'll add that it was extremely delicate,
fine lines -- the fact that it reproduced in the print rather belies the
claim about "gum can't do fine detail," tho of course we know that's
nonsense anyway....
