The smell of OLD Plastic Squeeze bottles!
After a few years of use (or inactivity?), I notice
that my squeeze bottles (PP or PE)develop a tell-tale
smell... I have rinsed them for hours, tried acid
rinses, ethanol and methanol rinses...nothing works,
but well, it may have weakened a bit.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
What causes this smell?
It appears only to be on the inside... These bottles
were only used for distilled/deionized water, kept
mostly in the dark, under red, or low level
flourescent light.
Removing the smell is potentially important in the
process I am using.
The bottles are otherwise in good shape and it seems
wasteful to start the whole process over again with
new bottles....
ANY IDEAS?
Ray
