    That's certainly been my experience, no hard data. Just the generic "Yup,
dirty trays, saw it right away." I wouldn't mind buying the damn trays, but I
don't have room for that many. And then just think - a set of trays for every
permutation and combination that I want to work with. Yikes!

    I really don't know how much I'd accomplish with a single test strip. You
know perfectly well that the problems lay in wait until you save up your
money to make a nice 16x20 platinum print - then they jump up and bite you.

    My war story happened in 1951 (Korean War, whoops - I meant police
action), when I had just joined the Air Force to keep from being drafted into
the Army - good choice, it turned out. One of my crew inherited a beautiful
old pre-war Pontiac from his grandmother. It had 90,000 miles on it and had
never had the oil changed, just topped off. He got rid of that evil old tar
and put in the best oil he could find. You guessed it, inside of 50 miles he
threw a rod and shattered the crankshaft.
