Hello nze and folks,

If you have a reflection densitometer and use Mac OS X, try my software.
http://platinotype.jp/download/dotcalc/eng/DotCalcMacX.sit

This software make photoshop curve.
You can make your own photoshop curve files for your printer in 3 times
tests with this software.

1. make 101 steps gray scale negative without applying any curve.
2. print with this negative, minimum exposure time you can get deep
black on clear film.
3. read density of 100% black (d-max) and paper white with densitometer
4. input 100% step density and paper white then dotcalc software show
correct densities for each steps.
5. find the steps indicate correct density
6. input percent numbers where shows correct densities
7. save .acv file
8. open 101 steps gray scale with photoshop and apply the curve you
saved, and make negative
9. print with this negative
10. run dotcalc, load the curve file that you applied for test negative
11. return step5

I can compile this software for windows or Mac OS 9, if anyone need.
please try.
