VDB often has a precipitate of some kind, which AFAIK doesn't affect the
print, in fact seems to work back into the emulsion as you coat. But if
you're not getting good D-max, again heat drying comes to mind. Memory
again -- who was it said he was heat drying ? Whoever, IME it lowers
D-Max.
