Although this page was written with silver gelatin processing
solutions in mind, some of the discussions apply to other processes.
I agree pH monitoring and control is in general useful, but it is by
no means an easy thing to do. A lot of test solutions are not
compatible with many pH measuring probes, and if you don't take care
of them properly, the probe can easily get damaged. Even with great
care, frequent calibration is necessary. This is not like measuring
temperature or voltage; it's a chemical thing, PITA. You have to make
your judgment as to whether the benefit is worth the trouble.
