We presume with PS8 this may be possible due primarily to the increased
employment of fine quality digital cameras.
you could perform you primarily color corrections such as hue/saturation,
curves/levels, selective color and record all this as an action. Then apply
that to the other 1/2 of your to-be-spliced image. Convert to 8 bit and
splice. If important considerations such as sky need to be considered. those
manipulations can be done in 8 bit.
