Re: Charcoal Prints?Carl: It would be hugely disappointing if he were using an "off the rack" paper. The gallery attendant was not helpful. The only seemingly relevant words out of her mouth were "barium" and "salt." The wall explanations talked about the photographer taking two days to make each print, his contact with and relationship with the Fresson family, etc. Jim

  It might be something special, or they could just be making a big deal out of prints on Luminos "Charcoal" paper. It's a thick, expensive, textured silver-gelatin paper with a unique look. I've seen shows where prints on it were presented as though it were more than just another manufactured silver paper with an unusual surface.---Carl

    I went to a gallery today in Chicago (not Catherine Edelman's gallery where there are some photogravures) and saw some "charcoal" prints. They were somehow related in the writings sitting around to Fressons. Since my spouse liked them, I thought I should find out the process. Anyone have any exprience or know what it is? Is it carbon printing? TIA. Jim
