Plate Makers?

Being a sucker for unusual junk, I recently picked up a platemaker from a
guy who simply wanted to get rid of it. I thought that it might come in
handy if I get around to trying alternative printing. However, I'm not
really familiar with what these were used for or how they work. I guess
it was used for making blueprints and copies.

So....now that I've got this thing, and you are suggesting that it might
be handy, how about a suggestion or two about what I can do with it.
